Recovering after a Brazillian Butt Lift is the most important period. No doubt; your surgeon operated with utmost precision and skill, but it is only you who can optimize the results. Recovery after a BBL procedure could be complex and require special care. Here are some essential tips for a faster, smoother, and effective recovery.

What is BBL Surgery?

A Brazillian Butt Lift is a cosmetic procedure to enhance the size and shape of the buttocks by transferring fat from another part of the body to the buttocks.

BBL Surgery Recovery Tips:

Here are some essential tips regarding recovery after a Brazillian Butt Lift.

1. Follow Post-Operative Instructions

Following post-operative instructions is the first and most important step in your recovery.

Your surgeon will provide you with a detailed guideline. Never hesitate to ask any questions regarding your recovery.

2. Avoid Sitting Directly on Your Buttocks

Sitting directly on your buttocks after a Brazilian Butt Lift can adversely affect your surgical outcomes. Sitting directly on the buttocks puts excessive pressure on newly transferred cells, resulting in improper blood supply to them and, ultimately, death of fat cells. To avoid direct pressure on the buttocks, you should use a special BBL pillow for at least 6-8 weeks or as recommended.

A BBL pillow helps you to sit comfortably by reducing the pressure on the buttocks and promoting fast recovery.

 3. Wear a Compression Garment

It is important to wear a compression garment after undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift for at least 4-6 weeks. It helps to reduce swelling and bruising, improve blood circulation, minimize discomfort, and support the treated areas that underwent liposuction like the abdomen and thighs.

These garments also gently compress the buttocks and hips, helping the skin conform to the newly contoured shape. Ensure the garment gently fits your body and is not too tight to restrict blood flow to the treated areas.

4. Take it Easy and Rest

Avoid strenuous physical activities for at least a few weeks after BBL surgery. Take plenty of rest and give your body the time it needs to heal. Light and short walks can improve blood circulation.

Sleep on your stomach or side for at least a few weeks to avoid unnecessary strain on your buttocks and to allow the newly transferred fat cells to settle properly.

5. Stay  Hydrated

Hydration helps in recovery by facilitating proper tissue integration, reducing swelling and bruising, flushing out toxins from the body, and providing adequate oxygen and blood supply to newly injected fat cells.

6. Maintaining a Healthy, Balanced Diet

Your body requires sufficient energy for healing and for best results. Incorporating vitamin-rich food, vegetables, fruits, and minerals will provide essential nutrients for recovery. Limit the usage of sugary and processed food as they can cause swelling and delay the healing procedure.

7. Adherence to Aftercare Instructions

Following your surgeon's advice is a cornerstone of your successful recovery. Post-op surgical supplies and accessories like bbl pillows, lipo foam, lipo boards, etc, are also crucial as they support your body by aiding in recovery.

8. Don’t Smoke or Drink Alcohol

Smoking and drinking alcohol negatively impact your surgical results. Therefore surgeons recommend their patients avoid smoking and alcohol if they are interested in undergoing a Brazilian butt lift.

  •  Smoking causes a restriction in blood flow, which means that the grafted fat cells would not get enough nutrients to survive.

  •  Alcohol interferes with the medication prescribed by the doctor, thus making recovery harder and dangerous.

9.  Avoiding Tight or Constrictive Clothing

Don't wear extra-tight clothes, such as skinny jeans or leggings, that can put undue pressure on your buttocks and liposuction areas. Tight garments can hinder the blood supply to the grafted cells and disturb the areas that need to remain undisturbed. When you can resume wearing these clothes depends on the patient's healing ability and the guidelines provided by the surgeons.

10. Be Patient

Healing after a BBL  requires a long time, and you observe the final results after 8-12 months of surgery. During the initial stage of recovery, due to the swelling, the buttocks look fuller and lifted, but with time you may observe a change in the size of the butt as the fat cells settle. The original results will be more apparent over time.
